“Sue, is this just another lifestyle change? I’ve been here before, and I can’t stick with it!”
The answer is NO. Hard stop. This is much bigger than a lifestyle change.
We don’t need to make lifestyle changes; we need to change our LIFE.
Style is superficial and temporary.
LIFE changes are what’s needed for lasting change. It’s the fundamental life we are living that needs to be changed, not just the actions or feelings in the present moment. This isn’t about cutting our bangs when we’re bored with our hair (like I did last month).
Lifestyle changes largely refer to temporary conditions, LIFE changes are transformational. They bring about a complete metamorphosis internally that transfers outwardly as we grow.
Steps to making LIFE changes:
Step 1: Own the life you are living and then decide if and why it needs to change.
Step 2: Start making life changes, not just behavior changes. We can’t depend on lifestyle changes, fad diets, and sticky note quotes to make us happy.
That’s not working and we’re not in our 20’s or even 30’s anymore. We must start exploring WHY we are in this vicious cycle, address the roots, and heal the wounds if necessary. When we are truly ready to make a life change, we need to get serious.
Step 3: Make this IMPORTANT
We need to make time for what’s truly important- because (spoiler warning) we already ARE. Your life today is a reflection of what is important to you.
Change what’s important and you’ll change your life.
